Atmosphere
This is a grand dining room, regal in its spaciousness and old fashioned style. Experience delicious authentic Southern cuisine and gourmet fish and vegetarian selecions, served by our international staff in elegant surroundings.

Parents and young children are in for a treat. The Chalfonte has a Children's Activity Room (the C.A.R.), for young guests aged 5 -8, that is a separate dining area, supervised by friendly staff. Reservations and a small fee required.

Features:
The Chalfonte features a small delightful bar called the King Edward Bar. "The Eddie" is open to the public nightly from 5:00pm to 1:00am. Come over for our Complimentary Imported Cheese and Olive Bar on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 5-8 pm. Handicapped accessible. There is on street parking available for those with cars and it is but a short walk from the Mall for those in the mood for a stroll.

Open seasonally from Memorial Day Weekend through Columbus Day Weekend.

The Magnolia Room is the heart of The Chalfonte, established in 1876. Dot Burton and Lucille Thompson, daughters of the late Helen Dickerson, carry on the tradition of Southern cooking as their mother did for more than 60 years.

Dot's Southern Fried Chicken is sumptuous, as are Lucille's Homemade Rolls, Miss Helen's Crabcakes, and Sweet Potato Pie. The Chalfonte's Fried Chicken has been featured on the Food Network's "Tyler's Ultimate" show, as well as being voted in USA Today as one of the Top Ten Fried Chicken recipes in the country. Newsweek Magazine also gave the restaurant a nod for the Magnolia Room's Fried Chicken and Corn Pudding. The fixed price includes choice of four entrees (2 Southern, a grilled fish of the day and a vegetarian entree), soup or appetizer, green salad, 2 side vegetables and rice or potatoes, choice of three desserts, and a beverage.

The ambience of the Chalfonte has changed little over the years, and generations of friends and family continue to meet season after season, relaxing and rocking on the expansive verandas, then relaxing in the King Edward Bar, and retiring to the airy Magnolia Room for a truly Southern dining experience.

The Magnolia Room is Open to the Public - Reservations are suggested and the dining room is smoke free.
