| Island Grill is a delightful taste of a real Caribbean restaurant. Lots of hot colors, lots of cool colors, lots of wonderful original paintings with an island theme a delight for the eye. Just sitting in one of their three dining rooms transports you to a different kind of island. Island Grill is a serious “fish” restaurant that also caters to the beef, chicken, or vegetarians diner. In town of accomplished chefs, Harry Gleason’s name is well-known, for his years at the critically acclaimed Daniels on Broadway. You now have a chance to try his Caribbean influenced cuisine in a casual setting at his brand new restaurant, Island Grill. Some menus are just plain “fun” and this is one of those. Starters include Hot Jalapeno Crab Dip, served warm in a ramekin garnished with pita bread, or an “East meets West” offering. Cajun Chicken Egg Rolls with blackened chicken, roasted corn, red onion and peppers with a spicy mustard sauce. Try a summery salad, such as the Black Bean Shrimp and Mango Avocado, all tossed in a citris vinaigrette, or a Chilled and Grilled Vegetable Gazpacho. |

| Come back for dinner and try some additional appetizers, like the Conch Fritters, conch and corn fritters deep fried and crisply, served with tartar sauce, or an old-island-style recipe conch chowder. There are sandwiches on the dinner menu too, but bring your appetite because there’s lots more. Choose from a selection of Island Grill Fresh Fish, prepared to your liking and served with a variety of sauces and salsa. Meat lovers will want to try the Grilled Flat Iron Steak, with a Vidalia, rosemary, red wine demi and garlic mashed potatoes. If chicken is your pick, go for the Macadamia-crusted Chicken Breast, with a coconut curry sauce. You’ll fine pasta, complemented with chicken, seafood, or veggies, a great selection. Save room for dessert . . . Coconut Crème Brulee, Chocolate Toffee Mouse with Kahlus, Old Town Cheesecake, Warm Tropical Brownie, or Island Grill Key Lime Pie . . . do they need to say any more? Located in the center of town near Jackson and Lyle Lane ( next door to Collier’s Liquor Store) and within walking distance of many of the hotels, guesthouses and rental units. If you want to drive, there is plenty of onsite parking. Island Grill is a BYOB and being right next door to Collier’s is a plus as they always have plenty of great wines and beers at the perfect temperature. |
